Lando Norris opened up on his career after clinching his first Formula 1 world title in Abu Dhabi.

“Forget that I drive in Formula 1. I don’t want to forget what we’ve achieved this year, but I just want to live a few normal days”

Norris has finally reaped the rewards of an exhausting season — both physically and mentally — fulfilling the lifelong dream of becoming world champion.

Speaking to the BBC, the Brit said he now can’t wait to “forget this season — try to forget a little bit what we’ve been able to achieve together. Forget that I drive in Formula 1. I don’t want to forget what we’ve achieved this year, but I just want to live a few normal days, go play some golf, do some normal things — and that’s it.”

Norris also revealed that the turning point of his season came in Monaco, where he hooked up a stunning pole lap and then went on to claim his first-ever victory in the Principality the following day.

"For me to then to go there and put in that lap at the end of qualifying was one of the best moments of my career, because it was the time I almost doubted myself the most ever, in the most important season that it turned out to be."

Norris had been coming off a run of disappointing results compared to his teammate, but that lap — in that exact moment — proved crucial in restoring his confidence.

"But that one lap was all it needed for me to flip everything and turn that thought of 'I just don't know if I've got this' to 'I can definitely do this'. That was a pivotal moment for me."

Norris reveals car number choice after being crowned 2025 F1 world champion

After four years wearing the mantle of team leader, Verstappen won’t be able to run the No. 1 on his Red Bull next season under the regulations. The new world champion can either take it on or stick with his usual number.

The Dutchman opted to switch to the No. 1, temporarily shelving his trademark 33, while Lewis Hamilton, for instance, chose to continue with his iconic 44 even after winning the title.

Here’s the number Norris will race with next year.
