UPDATE | After the red flag the F1 Miami Sprint is given the go ahead!

Conditions ahead of the F1 Sprint in Miami were too deteriorated to start the 19-lap race. Following Charles Leclerc's crash, Max Verstappen also had a moment during the formation lap.

Charles Leclerc did not take part in the short 19-lap race because the Monegasque crashed his Ferrari on the way to the grid.

However, he was not the only driver to struggle in the wet conditions at the Miami street circuit with leader Andrea Kimi Antonelli even complaining about not being able to see anything behind the safety car.

'Worst conditions in a race car ever'

Piastri, ahead of the race start, complained about ‘terrible’ visibility and reported ‘a river’ in Turn 10.

The complexity of the conditions were evidenced by Max Verstappen going straight on in Turn 17. Although the Dutchman was able to retake his position, due to the severity of the conditions, which Piastri labeled as 'the worst he's ever had in a race car', Race direction decided to abort the start procedure.

UPDATE | F1 Sprint in Miami to start at 12:28

After the red flag was brought out due to the complext conditions at the Miami street circuit, Race Control issued a message saying that the 19-lap race start would take place, first at 12:25 local Miami time, before overriding that message, setting the definitive start time at 12:28 local Miami time.
