Max Verstappen has provided an update on his potential participation in the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring. After a question from GPblog, the Dutchman hinted in Detroit that, for now, it doesn’t look like he’ll be racing there as early as 2026.

For months, there has been talk of Verstappen taking part in the iconic race on the Nordschleife. Shortly before the launch of Red Bull Racing’s RB22 in Detroit, this site asked the Dutchman whether a decision had already been made about competing in the German Eifel.

"That is, at the moment, very difficult to give you an answer on," said Verstappen. "If I do it, I want to prepare well. And all the prep races are clashing. With Formula One. So, only if maybe something changes there, then maybe I can do it."

Verstappen has already been successful at the Nürburgring

Verstappen is referring to the four-hour races that precede the endurance event. He won such a race in 2025 on his first attempt in the top class.

It is not out of the question that the Nordschleife Langstrecke Series calendar could still change. The organisers have recently indicated they may move some races around, which would work out well for Verstappen.
