Russell unphased on beating Hamilton: "Fighting for race wins is the goal"

Young Mercedes ace George Russell has had a season to remember in 2022, but the seemingly out of reach goal of winning a race appears to be on the Brit's mind.
Although George Russell has scored seven podium finishes in the 2022 season and is beating seven-time champion teammate Lewis Hamilton, there is a sense of a deeper frustration within the young Mercedes driver of wanting more.

His feelings

When Sky asked on his feelings towards beating Hamilton, the Brit replied; "If you asked me that at the start of the season, I'd have said it means everything because if you beat Hamilton it probably means you're world champion. I want to finish ahead of him, but I am here to win races, pole positions and championships."
Despite having a strong and consistent season, the past two races have been disasterous for the Brit, which can only drive his hunger further.
"I want to get back on the podium, it feels like an age since we were in the top five. Singapore and Japan were terrible. I want to get back into that groove. But truly fighting for race wins is the goal."

Great chance for an excellent result today George BUT there is no chance you will be able to beat the illegally built RB's.

Yeah the team had weird strategies at both the races, seemingly trying very hard to make sure that he doesnt score more points than Hamilton.
At Singapore, at a circuit that is very difficult to overtake, they changed his engine so as to start from the pit lane.
Teams normally do that at easy-to-overtake circuits. Not at a street circuit like Singapore!
Than at Japan, they purposely had him wait in que behind Hami at the pit stop, which lost him about 6-8 seconds, otherwise he would be up there challenging Hami towards the end of the race, which the team again did not want to occur.
He will start in P4 tomorrow, which is actually the inside line to the first corner. Get your elbows out at the first corner and get ahead of Hamilton.

Lewis started P3 in Singapore and finished 9th dropping more than any other driver and passing no one despite the 3rd fastest car.
Surely he can improve on that but I wouldn't be betting on it.

This is more like Toto speaking. Russell is already beating Lewis and will continue to do so; I expect him to win his first race in 2023. Mercedes looks fast now with the updates. They will be fighting for the top in 2023
