During the Monaco Grand Prix, Max Verstappen also completed some extra laps in a Ford Mustang Dark Horse. While doing so, the Dutchman also talked about what's fatherhood been like since the birth of his first child. Verstappen became a father ahead of the Miami GP, when Lily was born. In a video on The Inside Track YouTube channel, he talked about his experience so far.
"Luckily, not too hectic," Verstappen began. "I think anyway as a dad in the beginning, they're so attached to the mom, you're more like a passenger, and you're just making sure everyone is doing well and there's not too much chaos."
Before the Miami GP, Max Verstappen and Kelly Piquet revealed they had become parents to baby girl Lily.
Verstappen can separate private life and work well
When asked about whether becoming a father has changed him on and off the track, the defending world champion said: "No, I don't think you should change a driver to be honest. Once I get to the track, I know what I have to do and I know what needs to be done. So I'm very focused on that. But it's just nice that when you go home, there's a little girl just there."
After the conversation, the Dutchman got to drive the Ford Mustang on the Monte-Carlo track. "Honestly, this is like the most fun hot laps to do in Monaco. It's great. Also for me, because you never get to drive very fast here with a road car, so it's perfect."
