Entering the final round of the season, it is Lando Norris who leads the F1 drivers' standings. The Briton leads Max Verstappen by 12 and Oscar Piastri by 16.
In order to secure his first ever F1 title without looking at the others, Norris needs to finish at least in third place.
| Standings | Drivers | Points |
| P1 | Lando Norris | 408 |
| P2 | Max Verstappen | 396 |
| P3 | Oscar Piastri | 392 |
The three contenders chose different paths to prepare for the final race of the season.
Norris said: "Same as every weekend. Nothing changed. Just some reviews of last weekend, like we do after every race. Review what went on, what was clearly and obviously not good for us, some of the mistakes we’ve made, and also the less obvious things that we could improve on."
“But that’s normal post-race understanding and preparation for the next race. Otherwise, nothing changes. It gets treated the same by everyone inside the team. Just more excitement for everyone at the same time. But apart from that, the work and how you approach it all remain the same,” he concluded.
Verstappen continued: "Spent some time with my daughter, figured some stuff out for GT3 next year, figured out some stuff for my sim team as well, planning for next year. Just pretty straightforward stuff before arriving here, to be honest."
It was then Piastri's turn. The Australian concluded: "I wasn’t organising GT3 teams, but I played some padel and just treated it like normal. Obviously, there aren’t that many days in between. Had a marketing day, so that was good fun, and that’s been about it."
There's one factor that can cause some headaches for the contenders on Sunday: wind gusts.
During the final session, they are expected to reach 20 to 30 kilometres per hour, unlike during the previous sessions of the weekend. Will this twist cause headaches for the drivers in Abu Dhabi?
