F1 LIVE | Qualifying is underway for the United States Grand Prix

With the Sprint race in the books, it’s time for the drivers to hit the track again for US GP qualifying — follow it live with us!

Yesterday’s Sprint Qualifying delivered a result that may have surprised some — but never truly does when it involves a driver like Max Verstappen. The four-time world champion once again pulled something special out of the hat, edging out both McLarens to take pole position and secure a front-row start for the afternoon’s Sprint race.

Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, the pre-weekend favourites, had to settle for second and third respectively, while an outstanding Nico Hülkenberg will be aiming to match his impressive fourth place from yesterday — or at least reach Q3 again. George Russell, fifth on Friday, will be hoping to climb higher this time, as will Fernando Alonso, who like Hülkenberg, is targeting another top-ten finish.

Both Ferrari drivers, meanwhile, will be out for redemption after a disappointing performance over one lap. The team struggled for outright pace on Friday, but remain optimistic of a stronger showing in today’s qualifying session.

Rain set to create havoc in qualifying?

Following a scorching and uneventful Friday that featured only one practice session and a tense Sprint Qualifying, the weather picture looks a little less certain today, with the Sprint race fast approaching.

Forecasts hint at partly cloudy skies and the slight possibility of a brief shower or thunderstorm. Temperatures, however, will remain high — hovering around 34°C — accompanied by light winds and moderate humidity close to 60%.
