Lando Norris crossed the finish line in second place at the Miami Grand Prix, behind his teammate, Oscar Piastri. Former McLaren driver and world champion Jenson Button expected Lando Norris to be more disappointed with his result after the race.
The 2009 world champion complemented Piastri to begin with in the state of Florida on Sunday. "Amazing job by Oscar this weekend. As soon as he gets in the lead he's formidable. He just controls the race and it's extraordinary to watch," he praised the Australian driver on Sky Sports.
After the start, Norris was battling Max Verstappen for the lead, but after leaving the track, he lost multiple positions. About the Briton, Button then continued: "Lando on the other hand had the mishap at Turn 2 [at the start]. But after that his pace was unbelievable."
"The thing that surprised me most was he didn't seem that downbeat. He wasn't as downbeat as I expected him to be. He knows Turn 2 cost him the race but knows his pace is there and his time will come," he concluded.

The Drivers' Standings after the Miami GP

After one quarter of the season has been completed, Piastri managed to extend his lead in the drivers' standings with his third victory in a row.
Currently, the gap between the two McLaren drivers stands at 16 points in the standings. Verstappen is behind Norris by the same margin, sitting in third position. The season is set to continue with the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix in two weeks time.
