Red Bull Racing team princiapl chrisitna Horner handed out soem priase to Yuki Tsunoda after his up-and-down weekend at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix. It was a mixed weekend around the
Imola circuit for the Japanese driver. The 25-year-old had a massive crash during qualifying, rolling his RB21 over with some serious damage after losing control during the first session of qualifying.
Speaking to
GPblog after his massive crash in qualifying, among others, Tsunoda expressed that he mainly felt
shame, disappointment, and frustration, while Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko also commented on the crash by saying
that it had "major implications" for the Austrian team. The damage to his Red Bull was so severe that he had to start from the pit lane, but thanks to a calm and composed drive, along with the work done by the mechanics of the Austrian team, Tsunod was able to drive a fine race and finish in P10 when the chequered flag fell.
Ten points is all Yuki Tsunoda currently sits on, meaning he is P12 in the drivers' championship after seven races
A special thanks to Tsunoda's mechanics
Although Imola is a track where overtaking is difficult, Tsunoda scored points by overtaking Nico Hulkenberg for P10, driving a great recovery race that allowed him back into the points, with Horner praising the Japanese driver for that.
"I haven't seen him yet, but I thought he drove a very good race today," the Red Bull team boss said to the Sky Sports cameras.
"To get to that point, it was hard for him, coming from the pit lane. The strategy worked well for him. He drove a smart race. He was decisive in his moves, and it was a good payback for the mechanics.
"Some of the fast corners here, he managed to get up the inside of Nico there, and that was his move into the points," concluded the Brit
