Franco Colapinto's return to F1 has been all but positive. The Argentine driver has been involved in a myriad of situations that have compromised his first weekend back in the sport.
Saturday has only aggravated his woes. First he was handed a fine for speeding in the pitlane. Then, during qualifying he was under investigation after he exited his garage before he was allowed to do so by race direction following Yuki Tsunoda's crash.
In the late stages of Q1 the Argentine found himself pushing too hard and paid the price coming out of Tamburello as he bit the grass and was launch in a pin toward the outside of the wall in Turn 4.
Colapinto handed grid penalty for pitlane infringement
The Argentine driver's unauthorised incursion into the pitalen during qualifying has not been overlooked by the Stewards despite his costly crash. Colapinto, the race officials have determined, will receive a one place grid drop penalty for tomorrow's race.
