David Coulthard shared his thoughts on what we might expect at the start of the Canadian Grand Prix between George Russell and Max Verstappen. Tension is running high as Max Verstappen and
George Russell prepare to go head-to-head in the Canadian Grand Prix, just two weeks after the drama that unfolded at the end of the Spanish GP—where the two clashed fiercely on track and then continued their war of words in the post-race interviews.
Everyone’s expecting fireworks at the start between the two rivals—but will it really happen?
''It's quite interesting, because a lot of people are going you know... the best thing the rivals can do is keep mentioning that one point to a potential penalty but I think anyone who thinks that Max is going to be suddenly pressured into being anything other than the instinctive racing animal that he is, doesn't really fully understand how Max operates'', David Coulthard said via Sky Sports prior to the race.
''He's got one playbook, which is maximum attack. He can find a lap time in a car that other drivers can't''.
''Sometimes wheel-to-wheel action can be questioned as to whether it crosses a line or not. But if you look at the history of the sport, the greats, the only one that stands out of that that has a very clean history is Lewis''.
The former McLaren driver also added: ''I think that Max will continue to race exactly the way he has. He'll not be phased at all by the fact that he's got penalty points hanging over him''.
''If it was a championship year, then maybe it would be different, but it doesn't look like they're really in the championship battle. That looks very much like it's between the two McLaren cars''.
We won’t have to wait long to find out what is going to happen into turn 1.
