Hello, and welcome, to GPblog's daily live blog where we bring you only the best and most relevant F1 news straight from the paddock to you! The behind the scenes war between
McLaren and Red Bull continues. The Austrians' team principal and CEO,
Christian Horner has now responded to
McLaren's chief
Zak Brown's 'challenge' to file a protest with the
FIA amidst alleged suppositions of irregularities.
It is rumoured that
Red Bull have conducted an investigation using thermal camerasthat prove that McLaren are doing something particular in terms of cooling, as it is, according to the Austrian outfit, impossible to achieve that level of cooling simply from the airflow.
Zak Brown then
referred to 'one team' in particular, taking on an approach of making 'cheating claims' to destabilise the Woking-based team and said that the team in question should lodge a formal protest with the FIA and added:
“The protest fee needs to be high enough for a team to think twice about whether it wants to appeal." Horner: 'That's just how F1 is'
After the race in Miami, Horner spoke to media including GPblog about the matter."Of course in Formula One there is always going to be questions that are raised. They did exactly the same about the front suspension on our car last year."
One of the most entertaining bits of the Miami Grand Prix was the exchange between
Lewis Hamilton and the
Ferrari pitwall, something the British champion makes no apologies for.
During the Miami Grand Prix, Hamilton didn't just battle other cars on track. For a large part of the race, it seemed as though the British champion was at odds with his own team as well, as he felt
Ferrari did not instruct teammate
Charles Leclerc to let him by quickly enough, as he felt he had more pace at that point in the race.
Whilst people might have anticipated a storm incoming for Ferrari, Hamilton was quick to dismiss those theories after the race in Miami.
"We lost a lot of time in those laps where Charles and I were passing [each other] and I was clearly quicker in that moment and I didn't think the decision came quick enough."
"For sure, in that time, you're like, 'come on!'. But that's really kind of it. I have no problems with the team or with Charles," said Hamilton to media like GPblog, downplaying his comments.
