Oliver Bearman was completely caught off guard when he saw Ferrari's special rear wing solution in Bahrain.

"I was, f***, like what happened? I thought it was broken. Honestly it's super innovative and it looks pretty slick as well."

The Scuderia brought a special rear wing to the final pre-season test of 2026. This design has a specific solution: when straight mode is activated and the top two flaps open, they flip about 270°, effectively inverting the direction of the wing profiles.

Bearman could see the innovation in action on track on Thursday. Speaking to GPblog, among others, the Briton shared he was surprised.

He said: "Actually, I was behind Lewis and I saw it. I was, f***, like what happened? I thought it was broken. Honestly it's super innovative and it looks pretty slick as well. So if it works on track then they've done something right that's for sure."

He added about the design: "It looks cool. But it's heavy as well.

"So yes, everyone, I think, has considered it, including ourselves. But there's always a compromise to be made on those things."

Haas leads Ferrari-powered cars in miles in Bahrain

This week, the young British driver put in a total of 199 laps at the Bahrain International Circuit. Haas in total completed 404 laps, ranking third among the 11 Formula 1 teams on the grid, while Ferrari and Cadillac — both Ferrari-powered teams — only finished ahead of Aston Martin in this regard.
