The FIA have announced a major update regarding the restart time of the Belgian Grand Prix. The Spa-Francorchamps event has largely been interrupted by the weather, as it has continued to rain during the scheduled window for the race.
Drivers initially went out for a formation lap; however, due to poor visibility and several patches of standing water on the track, the race director called the teams back into the pit lane.
The FIA has now provided an update on the start time of the race.
“We anticipate the rain to stop at 16:00. We will then target a start as soon as the standing water has been cleared from the track.”
The Belgian Grand Prix has long been synonymous with wet weather conditions. During the 2021 edition of the event, the race was cancelled after just two laps, with drivers awarded half points on that day.
