At the start of the Miami Grand Prix, Max Verstappen and Lando Norris locked horns again, something Former F1 driver, Martin Brundle thinks cost the McLaren driver the win. As the lights went out, Norris had a good start and put the pressure on Verstappen, whose RB21 brakes were not working properly, which caused him to go wide at Turn 1. Norris saw his chance and punced.
"I don’t think Lando could have done anything else than hit the throttle," said Brundle during Sky Sports coverage.
'Verstappen cost Norris the race win in Miami'
"Max is compromised on the outside of Turn One. He’s got to hit the throttle and go."
"He did well to actually not let contact sort of develop there. He had no option but to hit the throttle and go because it looked like he could take the place."
At Turn 2, however, is when the maneuver that according to Brundle, cost Norris the win, unfolded.
"Max then had another slide into Turn 2 that walks him across the track, Lando recognises he’s going in the wall."
"I think if he was in the same situation again, he’d have to do the same thing again. It just didn’t work out for him. It probably cost him this Grand Prix."
