Christian Horner, in his 20 years with Red Bull Racing, was the team principal of many drivers. One of them is Pierre Gasly, who drove for Red Bull over the first half of the 2019 season. The Frenchman reacted at Spa-Francorchamps to the dismissal of the British team principal.
Gasly had a hard time at Red Bull Racing. Only after twelve races, it was decided to demote the Frenchman back to Toro Rosso, where he later finished second at the Brazilian GP after a chaotic finish..
Gasly is certain that Horner will return somewhere in Formula 1, as he told GPblog among others: “I think his qualities are undoubtable, because when you've got the number of championships he's had in 20 years of career, then you can only respect all the success with the team, and what he's done with Red Bull Racing over there is very remarkable and very impressive.”
The Alpine driver continued: “For sure very, very good at what he's been doing with the team. I'm sure we're going to see him somewhere because with that sort of experience and skills, I'm sure some teams will be interested with Christian.”
“Obviously, I was closer to Helmut just from the fact that he's more the link between the drivers. Helmut came to coach me when I was 17, signed a contract with him. I got to know Christian a bit later, through the process, and being part of the academy so I had less contact with him, but still some. I think he's for sure been doing very well with Red Bull,” the Frenchman concluded.
Gasly himself is in thirteenth place in the championship, with a total of nineteen points. This puts him ahead of Red Bull driver Yuki Tsunoda, who is seventeenth with twelve points.
