Lewis Hamilton has (for now) not kept his promise about the Formula 1 winter break, as the seven-time world champion shared an update on social media with a phone.
The Briton was seen in a Lululemon store, a clothing brand for which he is an ambassador, showcasing a new clothing line there called 'The Lewis Hamilton Edit.' He wore several items from the collection himself and took selfies with his phone to show them off.
Earlier this year, Hamilton surprised customers in one of the brand’s stores by going undercover as an employee. However, it didn’t take long before he was recognized.
Because Hamilton shared this post via Instagram and was seen with a phone in his hand, so for the time being, he has not kept the promise he made to GPBlog in Abu Dhabi. “No one's be able to get hold of me this winter. I won't have my phone with me. I'm looking forward to that. It's completely unplugged from the matrix,” he said after the last Grand Prix of the year.
Hamilton left the Mercedes team at the end of last year for an adventure with the iconic Scuderia. Despite the huge enthusiasm following the transfer, things did not go as planned in 2025.

Hamilton himself was often quite dejected, especially in the second half of the season, which also came across in his interviews. It got to the point where the media frequently discussed his potential retirement.
For example, former F1 driver and steward Johnny Herbert felt the seven-time world champion also delivered his 'farewell speech' after the Abu Dhabi GP. However, his former teammate, Nico Rosberg, believed that the Brit shouldn’t stop after 2025.
