Helmut Marko has weighed in on his Red Bull Racing driver and protegé Max Verstappen holding talks with Mercedes team boss and CEO Toto Wolff.

Shockwaves were felt in Salzburg, surely, as George Russell revealed that Mercedes' and Verstappen's conversations were ongoing.

Today Wolff faced question after question from media seeking clarification on what this meant for the future of Mercedes and its drivers. Who would make way for Verstappen if he was to make the switch and what would the deadline be for the Dutchman to join the German team.

Marko reacts to Wolff-Verstappen talks

Now, the Red Bull Racing advisor reacts to his fellow Austrian's comments.

After FP2 the Red Bull advisor was asked regarding the future of his star driver,Max Verstappen and the conversations he - according to Russell and Wolff - were held between the Dutch world champion and the team boss.

"So you have to talk to Toto, [and see] what he knows," was the 81-year-old response to GPblog and other media. Did he know of the conversations that took place between Wolff and Verstappen? Is it tactic to try and destabilize Red Bull? Very little is clear as of yet.
