Max Verstappen is set to complete his first F1 Grand Prix as a father this weekend in Miami. He is now in a similar situation as his dad, who also was competing after the birth of Max. This how he did after the four-time world champion was born.
Max Verstappen was born on September 30, 1997, a year after Jos Verstappen married Max's mother, Sophie Kumpen. Their daughter, Victoria was born in 1999.
In 1997, 25-year-old Jos was competing in fourth F1 season with the Tyrrell team. The season was anything but successful, as the British side only scored two points thanks to Mika Salo finishing in fifth position at the Monaco Grand Prix. Jos Verstappen did not finish inside the Top 10 on occasions, however, only the first six drivers received points that season.
Max Verstappen was born two days after the Luxembourg Grand Prix, with two Grands Prix still left on the calendar. Jos finished in Japan GP in P13, and ended the season finishing in Jerez with crossing the finish line in P16.

After the 1997 season, the Dutchman did not secure a drive for the '98 season, which allowed him to spend more time with his family. He returned to racing for the Stewart team for the eighth weekend of the season, replacing an underperforming Jan Magnussen, but did not score a single point.
For the season after, he was a test driver for Honda, but that project ended up being cancelled. It did result in a unique picture of a young Max sitting in that car, however, his father never competed in weekend with it.
After Max's sister, Victoria was born that year, Verstappen had two strong seasons at Arrows alongside current Aston Martin team ambassador Pedro de la Rosa. With finishing in P5 in Canada and then in P4 in Monza, he scored five points. A year later, he managed to score a single point with finishing in P6 in Austria.
After taking a year off in 2002, Verstappen returned to F1 for the final time in 2003. The Minardi team scored 0 points this season, after Verstappen finished in P9 in Montreal.

He did return to Le Mans in 2009, but he then completed his racing career, focusing on his eldest son's, Max Verstappen's career. After Max won multiple titles in karting, in 2015, he became the youngest ever F1 driver, and now is a four-time world champion.
