Three drivers from the current
Formula 2 grid have already secured 'promotion' to
F1. Andrea Kimi Antonelli will replace
Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes, Oliver Bearman will be
Esteban Ocon's teammate at Haas, and Gabriel Bortoleto joined the Audi project signing for Kick Sauber. A fourth driver may also be on that list:
Isack Hadjar. The Frenchman answered
GPblog's question at the press conference about is future.
In Qatar,
GPblog asked the question to Hadjar whether he feels ready for a seat in
F1.
"I mean, it's obviously confirmed… And yet to be confirmed, right? So obviously, I can't tell. I literally can't tell you what I'm doing next season because it's not been official," the Frenchman said
Bortoleto then asked his title rival if he already knows the Red Bull family's decision. "If I say I know, then maybe you guys know what's going on," Hadjar replied.
Hadjar is currently still in contention for the F2 title. Entering the final weekend of the season in Abu Dhabi, he only half a point behind Bortoleto. He also has the chance to get promoted to VCARB, making him the fifth rookie on the grid next season. That would also mean that
Sergio Perez would be let go by
Red Bull Racing, and he would replace the driver promoted to that team from VCARB.
