Seven races was all Jack Doohan got in F1 before being demoted by Alpine, something Liam Lawson finds 'cut-throat'.
Whilst Doohan proved to be able to run among the top ten, he could never scored a point and after the race in Miami Alpine made the decision to swap him with reserve driver Franco Colapinto ahead of the race in Imola.
Liam Lawson, himself a demoted driver after an even shorter spell - just two race weeekends - at Red Bull Racing, was asked about Alpine's decision during the drivers' press conference ahead of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.

'Don't have much to say about cut-throat decision'

"I spoke to Jack, obviously for him it's very tough. I think he showed enough to stay in Formula 1 for sure, he showed enough to be in Formula 1, but also, how can you be expected in five races to show everything you have as well in your rookie season?," wondered Lawson hinting at an impatience for results at Alpine.
Not entirely outlandish given all the changes in leadership and in its structure that the French team has undergone in recent years. "So, unfortunately, it's very cut-throat. But as Esteban (Ocon, ed.) said, I think he did enough for sure."
"Even before F1, he did enough to be in F1 in the first place and he's done enough in F1 to deserve to come back. But also with twenty seats, it's just very, very tough. So, every team makes their own decisions. There's not really much more to say."
