Since his venture into Formula 1, Charles Leclerc has been one of the few drivers tipped to have world championship potential. However, seven years down the line, the Monegasque is yet to mount a proper title challenge.

The 2025 season has also not shaped out the way he would have envisaged, and he currently sits in fifth in the drivers’ championship — a long way off the pace-setting McLaren duo of Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris. Following the conclusion of the Hungarian Grand Prix, the 27-year-old touched on what he needs to do to unleash his full potential.

Speaking in an interview with AutoSprint, Leclerc detailed how he still needs to be more meticulous to reach his full potential.

“There's still a lot to do. I'm constantly working on myself. I think when I arrived in Formula 1, I had some areas for improvement, like tyre management. I've always been very honest with myself, and that's helped me grow and improve."

"Without impartial criticism and without preconceptions, it's impossible to do that. I've worked hard on many aspects, and I think I'm definitely a much more complete driver now. My job is different now; I have to go into more and more detail to always be better.”

Charles Leclerc speaks on his hunger for success

Leclerc also weighed in on his hunger for success. The former Alfa Romeo driver stressed how he is never satisfied and still a lot of work to do for himself and his team.

“I'm never completely satisfied. I want to be the most complete driver possible, for myself and for my team. As for our car, there's definitely still a lot of work to do. Right now, we're missing pure performance, which is what we need to find, and we're aware of that.”

The 2025 season for Leclerc has so far shaped out as a far departure from what he experienced in 2024. The eight-time Grand Prix winner remains without a race victory and has largely had to deal with the recurring challenge of the SF-25 machinery.
