Arvid Lindblad will take his place next to Max Verstappen during the first free practice at the Silverstone circuit next week, with the Brit getting behind the wheel for the first time in an F1 session.
It will be a special moment for the 17-year-old, driving the RB21 at his home race after recently acquiring his super license early from the FIA.
At just 17 years of age, many are already seeing the current Formula 2 driver as the possible successor to Verstappen at Red Bull Racing. Lindblad currently sits in third place in the standings of the junior formula class, eight points behind McLaren junior Alex Dunne, the leader in the standings, and five points behind Richard Verschoor, heading into the race weekend at the Austrian Grand Prix.
After a successful test at Imola earlier this month, Lindblad will make his official debut at the Silverstone circuit during a race weekend, which Helmut Marko revealed earlier today at Kronen Zeitung. However, the Austrian did not specify whether Lindblad would take over the seat from Verstappen or teammate Yuki Tsunoda.
De Telegraaf now reports that Lindblad will take his place next to four-time world champion Verstappen during the first practice at the British Grand Prix, meaning that Tsunoda will be sitting out of FP1.
Officially, Lindblad's Formula 1 debut had to wait until after his eighteenth birthday in June, according to the regulations, as a driver must be of age to apply for their super license. However, Red Bull requested an exemption from the FIA, allowing the British-Swedish driver to step into the RB21 earlier.
