Max Verstappen's online racing team, Team Redline, were disqualified after a few hours while participating in the virtual 24 Hours of the Nürburgring.
Team Redline was set to compete in the online race with three cars. In car 20, Chris Lulham, Florian Lebigre, and Diogo Pinto would participate; in car 69, Sam Kuitert, Luke McKeown, and Cooper Webster; and in car 71, Gustavo Ariel, Edoardo Leo, and Enzo Bonito, with Verstappen not competing.
The qualification in the GT3 class went incredibly well for the team. Car 71 was supposed to start from pole position, followed by car 69 on P2, with car 20 finishing in P7. However, before the start of the race, all three cars were in the pit lane.

Team Redline causes controversial disqualification in 24 hours of the Nürburgring

All three cars starting in the pit lane turned out to be a strategic choice by the team, choosing to be on the grid with rain tyres and very little fuel. Because of that, all cars had ride heights that were already on the edge of the regulations.
Before the start of the race, the team went in for the right tyres and more fuel, assuming this deficit could subsequently be made up.
The team was then able to participate in the race and was in the process of making a comeback until one of the virtual stewards suddenly joined the livestream and informed that if the team continued, they would be disqualified.
The team broke the Sporting Code based on cheating. By switching the tyres and refuelling, the ride height of the cars was too low. This put an end to Team Redline's live stream, and Verstappen was not seen at all.

Verstappen himself would not participate in the virtual race, the team announced prior to the race. However, the Dutchman would be present in the livestream and answer viewers' questions.
This is not the first time Team Redline has participated in the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring. In recent years, Verstappen also participated himself, and the Dutchman had virtual successes.
Besides virtual successes, Verstappen has set a lap record on the Nordschleife at the Nürburgring under the name Franz Hermann.
