Red Bull top advisor Helmut Marko believes the updates the Austrian team brought to the Emilia-Romagna GP helped him to secure the victory.
After the race weekend that was hosted in Imola, the Austrian advisor was asked about how could Verstappen suddenly finish so confidently ahead of the McLaren cars at the Italian circuit.
The Dutchman overtook Oscar Piastri into Turn 1, and did not look back after last Sunday.
“The car now does exactly what Max wants again. That's due to the updates, which fortunately worked well,” Marko began to Oe24.

Marko also praised the defending world champion's maneouvre on the first lap, where he got the past pole sitter, Piastri.
“With his maneuver at the start, Max has once again proven he's the best. To see and exploit the opening — only he can do that,” Red Bull top advisor continued.
Ahead of the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, some rumours suggested that team principal Christian Horner could leave the team if the updates did not work out. Helmut Marko already declined these rumours ahead of the weekend, and once again underlined: "I don't know who put that nonsense out into the world. But in the meantime, everything has turned out differently,” he concluded.
After seven rounds have been completed in the current season, Piastri still leads the drivers' championship. Verstappen remains in third place after the last weekend, 22 points behind the Australian.
