McLaren and Mercedes can look back on a successful
Chinese Grand Prix, following their achievements at the
Shanghai International Circuit last Sunday.
Milestones for Piastri, McLaren and Mercedes
Oscar Piastri was able to pip an outstanding
George Russell to claim pole for the
Chinese Grand Prix, the first Saturday qualifying success of his career in
F1.
McLaren also had a rather successful Sunday with Piastri leading his teammate
Lando Norris at the flag on Sunday, making it a 1-2 for the papaya team, the 50th time is history the Woking-based outfit managed to claim such a result in Grand Prix. Only
Ferrari and Mercedes surpass them in the all-time list.
Following a strong drive on Sunday, George Russel's P3 finish was the 300th podium for Mercedes in
Formula 1. A landmark of the success the German team have experienced in F1. However, they still trail Ferrari, McLaren and
Williams in number of podiums achieved.
