Red Bull Racing has managed to be successful in three of the four Formula 1 era's it undertook with Christian Horner as team principal. Following his dismissal will the team change their approach to F1?
Speaking in the FIA press conference for team representatives at Belgium in front of media including GPblog, Mekies was questioned on how, if at all, the profound changes Red Bull is facing would also have an effect on the team's culture.
"We normally don't like very much the word 'transition' in Formula One," Mekies said.
In 2026 Formula One will undergo a regulation overhaul which will affect, chassis, fuel, introduce active aerodynamic, and will also change of course, the power units.
Red Bull Racing will premiere these engine changes hand in hand with Ford, which Mekies believes will usher in the change naturally.
"Red Bull F1 has had these two incredible era's of success. I think that the next one is dictated by the change of regulations for next year and the amazing decisions to go with our own power unit with Ford."
"That's what will dictate a new era whether we want it or not. I think all the teams will be starting a new era because of the scale of the change of the regulation next year," Mekis concluded.
