Lando Norris wasn’t the only one to get booed by Mexican fans during last Sunday’s Grand Prix.

Both after securing pole on Saturday, during the drivers’ parade, and especially in the customary post-race interviews inside the stadium, the McLaren driver faced relentless boos that sparked discussions across social media and among the F1 community.

The issue had even come up during the post-race press conference, with Norris brushing it off and taking the reaction in good humor.

However, as shown in a fan-recorded video from the grandstands shared on social media during the race, the Englishman wasn’t alone in facing boos—Liam Lawson also drew the ire of the Mexican fans.

The video shows some fans booing him at Turn 4—the same corner that saw Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen battle—which itself sparked plenty of debate after the race.

Lawson criticised after ‘dangerous’ near-miss with marshals in Mexico

Another controversial moment involving the unlucky New Zealander occurred at Turn 1, when he came dangerously close to hitting two marshals who had entered the track to clear debris.

Lawson spoke up over the radio, highlighting the danger of the situation and saying he "couldn't believe what he was seeing."

On the other hand, the Mexican Motorsport Federation took a stance opposite to Lawson’s, stating that “The images clearly show that the driver maintains the steering wheel angle of his car when taking Turn 1, without changing his trajectory.”

Since then, the FIA cleared Lawson of being at fault for the incident. "We can confirm that the driver of Car #30, Liam Lawson, slowed appropriately and reacted correctly to the double yellow flags displayed in the area, braking earlier than in other laps and passing significantly slower than racing speed into Turn 1. He is not at fault in this incident," the motorsport federation's latest update reads.
