Great result during Friday's free practices for Lando Norris, who got the first position in both sessions with a good advantage on his teammate Piastri.

McLaren delivered an impressive performance on Friday at the Hungaroring, with Lando Norris finishing fastest in both Free Practice 1 and Free Practice 2 ahead of this weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix.

The British driver looked confident and consistent throughout the day, while teammate Oscar Piastri secured a second place in both sessions, completing a commanding 1–2 for the Woking-based outfit.

Norris is not worried about FP2 mistakes

Norris, who has shown strong form in recent rounds, spoke after FP2 and praised the baseline feel of the car from the moment he hit the track.

“The car since the first lap has felt pretty good,” Norris said. “All my laps have been decent. The second session was a little bit more messy on low fuel and high fuel, a few more mistakes. It’s all part of practice and finding the limit in different areas. Good understanding. I know what I want from the car. It might be a bit harder trying to get it.”

Despite admitting to a slightly scrappier FP2 run, Norris’s pace remained competitive, and his feedback reflected a driver who is confident in both the direction and potential of his package. The team will now work overnight to fine-tune setup details ahead of Saturday’s all-important qualifying session.

Piastri, who has continued to impress in his second Formula 1 season, delivered two clean and effective sessions, keeping within a close range of his teammate. While the Australian didn’t provide public comments after the session, his performance on track spoke volumes about his comfort level at this tight and technical circuit.
