Having resigned, the former Alpine team boss, Oliver Oakes, is said to have been spotted in the Formula 2 paddock. Oakes resigned after the Miami GP, later revealed to be possibly linked to the arrest of his brother William.
Oakes resigned after the Miami GP, and for a long time, it was unclear why, but rumours were he disagreed with the decision to replace Doohan with Colapinto. However, the real reason turned out differently, as Oakes' brother, William, was arrested on fraud charges.
Remarkable old acquaintance possibly involved in the case
Oakes still owns the Hitech team. Although this team does not compete in Formula 1, it is active in Formula 2 and 3. His presence in Imola is therefore not strange in principle. As far as is known, Oliver himself is not suspected of anything.
There are rumors that William's arrest may be linked to Dmytri Mazepin might be connected with Dmitry Mazepin. The father of former F1 driver Nikita Mazepin was a major shareholder in Hitech before the war in Ukraine broke
These shares were allegedly sold to Oakes after Russia was sanctioned because of the war with Ukraine. However, Mazepin was rumored to never really disappear from Hitech and that is supposedly the reason that William Oakes was arrested with a lot of cash on him.
