Pierre Waché is noticing that Red Bull Racing's updates on the RB21 are effective. The Austrian team introduced an update package prior to the Belgian Grand Prix. The Red Bull Technical Director immediately saw the improvement.
“Sprint Quali is always a difficult exercise, in the sense that you don’t have so much practice beforehand, only FP1, and you change tyres during the session."
"Yuki was one tenth behind the cutoff, unfortunately, and he did that on his second lap, making a mistake at T4, and without that, he would have been in SQ3," Waché started after the session.
Max Verstappen finished in second place during the sprint qualifying and will have to start the session on Saturday from P2. Next to him, Oscar Piastri will start from the front row. As often this season, there was no measure on the Australian from McLaren. Lando Norris starts behind Piastri and Verstappen in third place.
Waché has the impression that the updates Red Bull brought to Spa-Francorchamps are working. "What is impressive is the delta to Pole for Max, which is positive."
"If we concentrate on our side, the package works well and as expected and now we need to see where we can extract the performance during the race."
"We changed the rear wing from FP1, to be a little bit complementary to the level of grip we have and we will see what happens on Sunday.”
