Perez aims to fight at the front with 'ambitious' Cadillac and Bottas in Formula 1

Sergio Perez will make his return to the Formula 1grid in 2026, joining Cadillac as one of the two drivers alongside Valtteri Bottas. The announcement marks a significant step for the American manufacturer as it enters the sport.

“Joining the Cadillac Formula 1 Team is an incredibly exciting new chapter in my career. From our first conversations, I could sense the passion and determination behind this project,” the Mexican noted in a press release from the American racing team.

“It's an honour to be part of building a team that can develop together so that, in time, we will fight at the very front. Cadillac is a legendary name in American motorsport, and to help bring such a fantastic company to Formula 1 is a huge responsibility, one I’m confident of taking on. I’m proud to be part of such an ambitious and meaningful project from the very beginning."

The Mexican has been supported for years by the masses of fans from Mexico, who can cheer for their local hero again in 2026. In a video, Perez expressed his gratitude to those fans and signed off in style: ‘I’m back’.
