McLaren driver Oscar Piastri has been "enjoying" the "different atmosphere" at the British team as they hold a commanding lead in this year's championships.
After taking the constructors' title in 2024, the first team title for McLaren since 1998, there was the expectation that they would continue with that in 2025, backed up by some impressive winter testing in Bahrain.
That has been the case so far this campaign, with the Papaya-coloured team winning five of the first six races to create a giant gap between themselves and the rest of the grid, sitting on 246 points, 105 ahead of Mercedes in P2.
It's also been a brilliant start for Piastri in just his third year in the pinnacle of motorsport, taking four out of those five wins for McLaren to put himself at the top of the drivers' standings with 131 points, 16 points clear of teammate Lando Norris in second.

Piastri excited with his season start but not getting ahead of himself

At the last Grand Prix in Miami, Piastri recognised the full circle moment for himself and the team, with last year's race in the Sunshine State, resulting in McLaren's first win of the season, changing the complexion of their campaign, which led to the constructors' title.
Now, Piastri and the papaya-coloured team are the one's to beat for the rest of the season.
"I think the position we're in is definitely very different from when we came into Miami last year," the Australian said to several media sources in the Miami paddock, including GPblog.
"This was kind of the turning point for the team in a good way. This season, we're already on a roll so far, so it's quite a different atmosphere, quite a different position that we're in. But I've been enjoying it a lot. Every time you can go into a weekend knowing you've got a very good chance of winning the race, and if you do a good enough job, then you will win the race, that's always a nice position to be in. So I've been enjoying it.
"Again, it's always fun when you're competing in the front and winning races. I've just been trying to enjoy it as much as I can. There's been a lot of hard work that's gone into it, but it's been good so far," continued the 24-year-old.
However, as is the case with his cool and unflappable nature, Piastri is not looking at what the standings look like after six races.
"It's far too early," he laughs when asked about leading the championship. "Winning the races is what is exciting at the moment. I think the championship lead is nice, but I think I said, after Saudi, I'm much more proud and satisfied with the work and the reasons behind why I'm leading the championship than actually the fact that I am leading the championship.
"I think, especially given that Melbourne didn't go very well from a points point of view, I think it went well as far as execution goes, but considering I started with a bit of a deficit and I've pulled it back, I think that's kind of the part that I'm enjoying the most and are the reasons why we're leading the championship," Piastri concluded.
