Oscar Piastri enters the final 10 races of the 2025 season nine points ahead of teammate Lando Norris. The Australian driver appears well on course to win his maiden F1 championship. However, he is also within touching distance of eclipsing a record held by both Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton.

The McLaren driver, who has scored points in every Grand Prix weekend held so far this season—including six victories—could finish the campaign ahead of both Hamilton and Verstappen if he maintains his streak of scoring points in all remaining races. Specifically, Piastri would etch his name into Formula 1’s storied history as the driver with the most consecutive points-scoring finishes in the sport.

Currently, that record belongs to Hamilton, who went on a 48-race run finishing in the points—either in Sprint races or Grands Prix—between the 2018 British Grand Prix and the 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix. Verstappen follows closely in second place with 43, a feat he achieved between the 2022 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix and the 2024 Australian Grand Prix.

Piastri, for his part, is currently on a 40-race run dating back to the 2023 Sao Paulo Grand Prix, and with 10 races left on the calendar, the McLaren driver will fancy his chances of eclipsing this feat.

Oscar Piastri is indeed enjoying his best season to date since his debut in Formula 1 in 2023. The Melbourne native sits atop the drivers’ standings during the summer break.

Piastri, who kicked off the campaign with finishing just inside the points after getting stuck in the penultimate corner as rain hit the track, has since picked himself up, recording 12 podium finishes, including six race victories, to lead the championship ahead of Lando Norris.

The 24-year-old has also been vocal about his title ambition as the battle with his teammate Norris enters its frenetic end.
