In the end Oscar Piastri couldn't capitalise on his pole position, coming home in P3 at the flag behind winner Max Verstappen and teammate Lando Norris.
During the on the grid interviews Piastri summed up his race, commenting on Max Verstappen's overtake maneuver for the lead at the start.
"[I] just braked too early and yeah, I mean it was good move by Max as well. So disappointing obviously, but I think we we made a few wrong calls after that anyways and Yeah, not our best Sunday."
"Definitely a lot of things to look at and review from that one, but Yeah, well done to Max and Red Bull. I think it was a good move, but also they had pace today, so yeah, we'll look back at that one and see how we can do a bit better."

Piastri wasn't going down without a fight in fight with teammate Norris

Then Piastri spoke about the incidents that often neutraliased the race in Imola.
"Yeah it was tricky. Obviously the VSC was perfectly timed for Max and Lando and then I'd obviously used both my tyres at that point, both my hard tyres, so made the last restart pretty tricky and I tried my best to hang on to second but just had nowhere near enough grip so third it is."
On his fight with Norris for P2 Piastri knew what the outocme would be but chose to not go down without a fight.
"It was tricky. I tried my best to hang on but just didn't have the grip. It was inevitable, I think, that I was going to get past but I wasn't going to give up without a fight."
