Four-time F1 world champion Alain Prost has praised Oscar Piastri for his behaviour as he continues a close battle with Lando Norris.

The Frenchman was full of praise for Piastri, a driver who he knows well after he spent time in the Renault academy.

Despite his praise, Prost didn't want to reveal whether or not he thinks Piastri can come out on top against Norris, who is eight points behind at the halfway stage of 2025.

The Frenchman attended the famed Goodwood Festival of Speed celebration, with a multitude of cars from throughout his career present.

Speaking to Karun Chandhok, the four-time champ commented on 2025's title battle.

"I mean, they are going to let them drive and fight, which is the best for the sport. If it's getting closer, and one driver or team is much closer, then it's going to become more difficult."

Zak Brown has doubled down on McLaren's race ruleset, stating that they are not going anywhere.

McLaren find themselves in dominant position reminiscent of the late 80s

Prost then reflected on the 1988 season, where McLaren won 15 out of 16 races.

"When we were fighting with Ayrton (Senna), we almost won all the races in '88. We honestly did not care at all about all the drivers or the teams.

The Frenchman was lyrical over Piastri, a driver he is very fond of. Prost can see his most famous traits within the young Aussie.

"I know Oscar much better because I was the one to push Renault to bring it into the Academy a long time ago. They did not want to.

"I like the way he behaves. He's a little bit like me, thinking about when to do the right manoeuvre for overtaking and being a little bit more clever. I like him. You never know what's going to happen, but these types of drivers, normally they can normally make progress."

"I don't know Lando very much, but honestly, for this type of championship, the best should win and that's it."
