Max Verstappen is one of the rain masters in Formula 1. However, the Dutchman openly questions whether wet conditions can contribute to a victory in the Miami Grand Prix.
The rain came pouring down an hour before the original start of the sprint race in Miami. Ideally for Max Verstappen, Formula 1 experts would think in advance. But he couldn't fight against Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. He seemed to be heading for third place, until the pit lane clash with Kimi Antonelli resulted in a time penalty for Verstappen.

No advantage for Verstappen?

According to meteorologists, there is a high chance of rain this Sunday in Miami, possibly during the Grand Prix. This time, Max Verstappen starts from the front, which could give him an advantage. After all, he won't have the spray from the cars in front of him.

Verstappen is certainly not confident about a rain race, because his RB21 did not perform as hoped under wet conditions. “What I saw today in the rain was not very tight. McLaren was also stronger there. I think in general they are a bit better, which always makes it a difficult race. We are ahead for now, hopefully, I can make it difficult for them tomorrow,” Verstappen told the Dutch media, including GPblog.
Should it be dry, then Verstappen also has a disadvantage. The starting position corresponding to the pole is not on the ideal line. About this, the Dutchman said: “We'll see. Of course, you always try to have the best start. From there you just try to run your race.”
