Red Bull has posted an emotional video after the RB22 did the first laps with the team's first in-house engine.

"It's a dream come true, I'm so proud of what everyone's achieved, it's incredible."
- Ben Hodgkinson

After Racing Bulls' shakedown at Imola last week, the new Red Bull car completed its first on-track miles with the Red Bull Ford power unit during the Barcelona pre-season test.

On Monday, Isack Hadjar was in action, while Max Verstappen drove the RB22 for the first time on a day later.

The team recently posted a video on social media in which Ben Hodgkinson (Technical Director, Red Bull Ford powertrains) and Steve Brodie (Head of PU Operations) discussed how it felt to have the new power unit in the 2026 car.

Hodgkinson began: "It’s been a super emotional day to be honest. Seeing the power unit in the back of the chassis and actually doing laps for the Red Bull Racing car. It's a dream come true, I'm so proud of what everyone's achieved, it's incredible."

Brodie continued: "I was blown away with how we started running it, it was fantastic really to get on the track like that and have confidence in it. It's given us a fantastic foundation for the future."

Verstappen's Thursday plans clarified

Max Verstappen will not be in action today at the Circuit de Bareclona-Catalunya.

Verstappen still has an entire day to run himself in Spain, but that will not happen this Thursday. After Isack Hadjar's crash from two days ago, GPblog has learned that additional parts also need to be flown in from Milton Keynes.
