Nico Rosberg has spoken in amazement abut Max Verstappen and his start to the 2025 season, saying he is "one of the best we have ever seen" in Formula 1. The Dutchman has been behind the wheel of an RB21 that has been hugely troublesome in the first eight races of the 2025 season, putting Red Bull on the back foot.
However, despite those issues, Verstappen has still been able to put that car right at the front of the grid, taking three pole positions and two race wins to sit just 25 points off Oscar Piastri
at the top of the drivers' standings.
Verstappen celebrating his second win of the season at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix
"I have been hugely impressed by Max with what he has done with not a very good car so far, except for maybe Imola, with a question mark," Rosberg started by saying to Sky Sports.
"He's still right there, and he's taking wins away from the McLaren, and he's in the hunt for the championship.
"It's incredible driving at the top of his game. It is certainly one of the best we've ever seen in the sport, so it's really great to watch," the 2016 world champion continued.
Rosberg weighs in on the flexi-wing changes
The German was then asked what his toughts are on the flexi-wing changes that have come into force this weekend at the
Spanish Grand Prix.
"This weekend, I mean, everybody has new front wings, as you've been saying, and the consensus is just, in the pit lane, looking at the on-boards, that McLaren have been on the far end of maximising this wing flex.
"It seems that's the consensus in the pit lane, that's what you hear the technical people saying, so perhaps it will slow McLaren down most.
"Then the ones on the other end who've had the least, again with what the technical people have been saying, are Red Bull and Ferrari. So, if we're lucky as fans, then it will bring the back closer together," concluded Rosberg.
