George Russell dubbed McLaren as favourites to take the win at Imola. However, Max Verstappen's killer instincts and Red Bull's pace surprised not only pundits and fans, but also the Mercedes driver.
Russell knows it all too well having battled the Dutchman on numerous occasions, you just can't give Verstappen a gap.
"If you leave the door open, you know Max is gonna take it. And, it was. The door was open and he took it," said Russell to media including GPblog after the race in Imola.
"That was a bit frustrating. I was obviously boxed in. I made a really strong start but the track is just too narrow for these big F1 cars these days, there's nothing you can do."

Russell on surprising role switch at Imola

Replying to a question put forward by GPblog Russell was then faced with his comments regarding McLaren being the favourites to take the win at Imola at the beginning of the race weekend. Does he have an explanation to why and how Verstappen and Red Bull managed to turn the tables around so quickly?
"No, not really to be honest. It's a thing, there's always a bit of a surprise in it. Some races, you expect one team to be quick, but it turns out in an opposite direction."

Hello to Vegan and Legend... :)
Time for those like Alan Jones and other detractors to get used to THE LAW of MAX.
Obey THE LAW. You have no choice.

4 wins in 21 races. Yeah some law. :)

funny how you only crawl out from under your rock for these short moments.
And naturally, as per usual, me and Vegan are still living in your head, occupying your every thought as you try to get through the days looking for ways to get us out.
Do a jigsaw or buy a new colouring book.

All Max did was brake later into a corner he had the best line on anyway. They rest was pure luck. Including a free pit stop.
He got lucky today. There was no masterclass.
Not every Max win deserves a national holiday for people to gather and glorify.

Next race Piastri or Norris win, you'll be absent from here.

Max is the one being glorified every day and seen as some messiah that can win in a Haas. 4 out of 21 is the reality.

Lewis has nothing to do with it. How many wins for Alonso? How many for Hulkenberg? Who cares?

The topic here is Max. Keep focussed.
