Guenther Steiner still believes that Oscar Piastri will win the World Drivers' Championship. However, on the Red Flags podcast, he reflects on Lando Norris outsmarting his teammate at the Hungarian GP.

At the beginning of the episode, Steiner said, "He outsmarted or him and his engineer, fair play to him and his engineer and his strategist. They outsmarted Oscar."

Norris makes mistakes

"If Lando wouldn't do his little mistakes, which I always say sorry, because I have to speak for myself, not for you guys."

During the Canadian Grand Prix, Norris was attempting to overtake Piastri for fourth place and misjudged the gap available. Instead, he DNF'ed the race. This is one of the mistakes Steiner points out.

"Canada, if he would have been patient and stayed second, guess where he would be leading the world championship by about 10 points here. But if and would doesn't give you a point."

He added, "He made a mistake and run into good old Oscar. And now he's still second, even if he had outsmarted him now in Hungary."

Later, Steiner was asked about the ongoing championship battle between the two McLaren drivers. Due to Norris's win in Hungary, only nine points lie between them.

After noting that Norris has won three out of the last four races, he said, "It's a sign that we have got a nice championship in front of us because it's not done until it's finished, this championship, because there's always some surprises. What I think of who will be world champion, you know that, I don't have to repeat that."

"I'm still Oscar, but for me, the good thing is with Lando, even when everybody was doubting him, not being critical, doubting him, if he can be a world champion, because he's folding under pressure and all that good stuff, me being part of that group of people." Steiner continued, "He, as you said, he won three out of the last four races. So that's not too bad"

He added, "That's not a lot of folding going on there, so he's up for the fight, which is interesting. And McLaren, very good to let them keep on fighting. It looks like they don't give any team orders".
