Red Bull is known for being ruthless when it comes to driver changes—even in the middle of a Formula 1 season. Even Christian Horner wasn’t spared. Now, Guenther Steiner expects even more shake-ups within Red Bull. Will Yuki Tsunoda last until the end of the season?
Sergio Perez was replaced as Max Verstappen’s teammate for the 2025 F1 season. Instead, Liam Lawson got the seat—but he was sidelined after just two races. Now it’s Yuki Tsunoda’s turn to prove himself, though that’s turning out to be a tough challenge.
In ten Grands Prix, Tsunoda has scored just 4 points for Red Bull, while Verstappen continues to carry the team with 165 points.
The gap is huge—no expert needed to see that. And now, with Horner gone as well, the big question is: what else will happen this season?
Former Haas team principal Guenther Steiner was asked in the Red Flags Podcast about Horner's exit and the future of Verstappen's teammate.
“Yuki needs to make points, otherwise, I really think at the latest (by the) end of the year, he’s out of there, but it could be before that,'' he said bluntly.
“As much as you guys love, as we love Yuki, because I love him as well, it’s one of these things, but he needs to bring the performance."
With the departure of the former Red Bull team boss, things could change quickly: “I think this is saying, we let Christian Horner go, we changed Liam Lawson, so it’s one of these things. If he doesn’t shape up, he will not be there for a long time anymore.”
