Pierre Gasly smashed the back of Yuki Tsunoda's car at the braking zone into the Nouvelle Chicane. The Stewards have now reached a verdict of the incident.
Pierre Gasly, coming out of the tunnel during the Monaco Grand Prix, hit the rear right tyre of Yuki Tsunoda. The Japanese driver sustained no damage from this incident. Gasly, on the other hand, broke his front left suspension and limped back home to the pits.
The Frenchman, despite being able to reach the pitalen couldn't bring his stricken A525 to the right box, which prompted race direction to close the pitlane during the VSC period.
The Stewards judged that with Gasly's race over a penalty was not necessary, but rather a reprimand would better serve the situation, since after all it was the Alpine driver's fault.
The stewards did say, however, that the crash was Gasly's fault, despite the Frenchman's claims that Tsunoda had moved under braking, which the race overseers dismissed as not being true.
