Andrea Kimi Antonelli will start the short race from pole position, with Both McLaren drivers, Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris behind him in P2 and P3, and Max Verstappen in P4. Here's the provisional starting grid for the sprint race in Miami.
It was the first time Antonelli drove on the Hard Rock Stadium circuit, but it seemed as if he'd already been racing there for years. Where veteran teammate George Russell failed to settle in, Antonelli was feeling more and more comfortable with each lap, and on that final run in SQ3 the young Italian saw his opportunity and capitalised on it edging out both McLarens for pole.
Russell could only manage P5 behind Verstappen in P4, and ahead of both Ferraris with Charles Leclerc in P6 ahead of Lewis Hamilton in P7. Alexander Albon managed to make it into SQ3 where his teammate Carlos Sainz couldn't yet again, and Isack Hadjar was able to drive the wheels of his Racing Bulls car to put it in P9 with Fernando Alonso closing the top 10.
Yuki Tsunoda fell in the first round of qualifying as he did not have the smoothest of qualifying sessions, first with an issue in his helmet, then losing time on the pitlane exit and yet again before he could even start his final push lap due to a misscomunication by Red Bull Racing. The Japanes driver will start the race from P18.
