Toto Wolff has urged that Mercedes must be clinical at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, and due to the unpredictable weather, there is little margin for error.

“No matter what the weekend throws at us, our aim is to hit the ground running, execute better than our competitors, and get back in front of our nearest rivals.”

With four races to go, Mercedes remain in the fight for P2 in the constructors' standings.

The German team are one point behind Ferrari on 356 points and ahead of Red Bull by nine points.

“We have had a couple of tough weekends, but we are still in the fight for P2.

“Each one of these four events is going to be vital in the battle for second in the Constructors’ and, whilst our advantage over our rivals disappeared across Austin and Mexico, we can strike back in Brazil.”

Recent struggles

Since George Russell’s second win of the season at the Singapore Grand Prix, Mercedes struggled to score points in COTA and Mexico City.

At the United States Grand Prix, Russell scored eight points, finishing sixth, whilst Kimi Antonelli could only manage 13th.

Their results only slightly improved in Mexico, where Antonelli finished sixth and Russell seventh, earning a total of 14 points.

“The penultimate Sprint weekend of the year means we have to be at our very best from the off.

“Interlagos is an old-school circuit with a bumpy surface, elevation changes, and a wide range of corners.

“Add in unpredictable weather, and there is little margin for error.

“No matter what the weekend throws at us, our aim is to hit the ground running, execute better than our competitors, and get back in front of our nearest rivals.”
