Until 2041, the Miami Grand Prix will feature on the Formula 1 calendar, as was announced this week. Max Verstappen has his thoughts on the matter...
Max Verstappen has never made it a secret: the race around the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Beach is not among his favourite races in Formula 1. Once, the Red Bull Racing driver called it partly a Mickey Mouse circuit. Yet, this track will stay on the F1 calendar for many years.
The new contract between the organization and Formula 1 runs until 2041, even though the track is no guarantee for spectacle. "I think it's more about what happens around it. That's very lucrative. Obviously, that's very clear," says Verstappen to, among others, GPblog, during a conversation with the Dutch media.

Verstappen prefers Spa over Miami

So, the artificial Miami is secured a spot on the calendar, while a historic track like the one in Belgian Spa must settle for a role as a rotating Grand Prix. "Well, you know my position. I could mention it again, but not everyone will be happy about it," is the significant reaction of the Dutchman.
Verstappen bites his tongue, but not because he isn't allowed to criticize the FIA. "This is, of course, about Formula 1 itself, not the FIA of course. No, yes, you know... Everyone knows I don't like street circuits and... Yes, I do like Spa," concludes Verstappen.
