Sebastian Vettel has once again talked about the possibility of returning to Formula 1 with Red Bull in a managerial role.

“Maybe there’s a role that I could be happy to step up to, but time will tell”

Present in the paddock during the Interlagos weekend, Sky Sports seized the opportunity to ask the four-time world champion for updates on a possible renewed involvement with the Milton Keynes team, following months of circulating rumors.

“I read there was a lot of talk about it and so on,” Vettel replied. “I did speak with Helmut a little bit, but it never got anywhere, never gained any traction. I think, for me, I am fairly happy where I am in life right now.

“I love F1. In the beginning, I thought I’m not sure whether I want to keep watching because I need to get a distance. I watch the races and follow it because I love the sport.

Although he once again closed the door, at least for now, the former German driver said he is still open to collaborating in the future — but only time will tell.

“I know the guys as well so I am still close in that way and if I don’t know if the right opportunity, position, perspective, whatever turns out, maybe there’s a role that I could be happy to step up to, but time will tell.”

What Vettel thinks of Horner leaving Red Bull

Last July, the Austrian team underwent a leadership shake-up, parting ways with their Leamington Spa-born manager after twenty years and appointing Laurent Mekies as the new team principal and CEO.

Since then, Helmut Marko has noted a significant shift in the atmosphere at Milton Keynes, crediting the Frenchman’s arrival with bringing a fresh perspective.

The four-time world champion also weighed in, having worked with both leaders at different points in his career.
