Mick Schumacher is said to be one of the candidates to be the second driver next to Valtteri Bottas at Cadillac. But Jacques Villeneuve advises the American team: 'Don't do it!'

Schumacher is aiming for a return to Formula 1, after being sidelined by Haas F1 at the end of 2022. The American team's decision not to continue with Michael Schumacher's son was due in part to a number of crashes and the German's lack of points scored.

A few years have passed and Schumacher is active in the World Endurance Championship with Alpine. Yet he still contemplates a comeback in Formula 1, and perhaps that opportunity is possible with the new Cadillac team.

If it were up to Jacques Villeneuve, that chance wouldn't happen. The former world champion believes that Schumacher does not deserve a second chance.

“Mick Schumacher had a hard time when he was at Haas. He’s not an experienced driver either. There’s no reason to go for him," the Canadian suggests in an interview with a betting website.

'Bottas is indeed the right choice'

Villeneuve thinks it is much smarter for Cadillac to hire Bottas. “Bottas has a lot of experience and he’s shown that he can win races,” says the former champion.

“And he’s been with an amazing team in Mercedes. So that’s good attributes to have. It’s hard to judge his Sauber years. I don’t think there was any hunger there,” concludes Villeneuve, referring to the last seasons in which Bottas struggled with inferior equipment.
