What to expect from weather ahead of title-deciding race in Abu Dhabi

Let’s take a closer look at the weather forecast expected for the final Grand Prix of the season in Abu Dhabi.

Everything is set at Yas Marina for the Drivers’ Championship showdown, which will see three drivers still in contention — the first time this has happened since 2010, when four drivers were vying for the title.

This year’s contenders are McLaren’s two drivers and Max Verstappen, who has managed to carry the championship fight all the way to the final race. After seeming out of the running following the summer break, Verstappen capitalized on errors from the Papaya team and the strong development of the RB21 from Zandvoort onwards.

From a weather perspective, the Abu Dhabi GP isn’t expected to throw up any surprises. True to its history, every race since 2009 has been held in dry conditions.

Friday is expected to start with some morning clouds before clearing up to sunshine in the afternoon, with hazy skies, a high of 27°C, and northeast winds blowing at 10–15 km/h.

Saturday should remain mostly clear and hazy, with temperatures again reaching 27°C and NNE winds at 10–15 km/h.

Race day on Sunday is forecast to be similarly clear and hazy, with a high of 28°C and NE winds at 10–15 km/h. No rain is expected throughout the weekend.
