Officially, Christian Horner is still under contract with Red Bull Racing, pending agreement between the two parties on the financial unwinding of his contract. Yet, the British ex-team boss of Max Verstappen is reportedly already considering a return to Formula 1.
In his Green Book, journalist Joe Saward writes that Horner will 'at some point' enter the market, in search of partners. The journalist writes that in that case Horner wants to become (partly) owner of a Formula 1 team - a story that has been circulating for a while.
Also, GPblog previously reported that Horner was closely monitoring the situation at Alpine, possibly to step in as a shareholder with the French.
However, Alpine is not planning to sell the team, according to this website. It does not change the fact that there are various parties looking to buy a Formula 1 team. It has been well known for some time that the Chinese market is particularly following the situation in Formula 1.
Interest is also reported - at least according to Saward - from South Korea. Hyundai is said to be considering entering with their own team. This is not news either, as it was already known that Hyundai Motorsports - led by Cyril Abiteboul (ex-Renault) - was considering the pinnacle of motorsport.
However, the company chose to participate in the World Endurance Championship (WEC).
As a result, Formula 1 may have been put on the long track. However, Saward's words indicate that people in South Korea have not yet given up on F1.
